Meet Gil Benizri of...The Custom Spot
by Allen Herman

The sun is the center of our world. The heart is the center of the body. And the kitchen ... is the sun, the moon and the heart of most homes. When good things happen we celebrate in the kitchen. When bad things happen we share our grief in the kitchen. It's the kitchen, probably, where most families have the most quality time together. It really is a special place.

Recently I visited with Gil and Marisol Benizri. Gil is the owner of The Custom Spot. He is a fine cabinetmaker who has been advertising in our publication over the past year. I guess what makes him most unique is that he purchased a three bedroom ranch home on the corners of Mearns and Bristol Roads and turned it into a Kitchen "Paradise." I kid you not! All of the would-be bedrooms are now kitchens and the dining room is a kitchen, and the living room has become three kitchens! It looks like a Jackie Mason routine sounds. Even the bathroom has become a mini kitchen. I didn't look in the garage yet.

Actually, per my recommendation, my sister-in-law had Gil redo her bathroom with beautiful cabinets and a work area for her washer and dryer. She seems happy with both the price and the the product. It really came out great.

Gil didn't start out making kitchens. He came to America from Israel when he was a teenager. Some years later his parents joined him. He had an odd job or two until he started his own business making cabinets for stereo speakers. As time went on people began to ask him to make other types of furniture and he ultimately, after ten years and a Best of Philly Award opened The Custom Spot. Recently he moved the operation to Warminster. He not only makes great things for his customers but also for other contractors who use
his products.

In spite of his busy schedule he's found time to marry his lovely wife Marisol. She arrived in America when she was eleven. Recently she began working with Gil. Some may know her because she managed a chain clothing store in the area for many years. She is quite competent, bubbly, knowledgeable and loaded with enthusiasm. I'm certain she'll be a great asset to him at The Custom Spot.

It is difficult to find out much about Marisol because she only wants to talk about her husband ... "he has magic hands and can visualize and take to completion just about anything." She "fell in love with him on the first date when I looked into his eyes." They have two daughters. Crystal, 18, just started Bucks County Community College and Emily is 12. Both children are Marisol’s pride and joy and share the spotlight for her affection for Gil.

If you need a new kitchen ... or a stereo speaker box (just kidding) ... stop in and see the House of Kitchens a.k.a. The Custom Spot. Trust me, you won't get indigestion. What you will get is the opportunity to check out a variety of woods and finishes, marble, ceramic and granite tops and a whole range of cabinet styles that can be made just right to your specifications. You can also speak to Gil and ask for his expertise in making the most out of the space you're trying to renovate or make new. It's easy to find. Just look for the neat little rancher with tons of flags out front. The house isn't for sale... but what's inside (and lots more!) is!
